Shukracharya warns Bali that the dwarf Vamana is actually Lord Vishnu, sent to reclaim the heavens for the gods, and advises him to retract his promise. Bali, however, firmly refuses, declaring that breaking a vow made to a Brahmin is a greater sin than any loss of wealth or kingdom. Despite Shukracharya's curse, Bali proceeds with the donation, and Vamana expands into the cosmic Trivikrama form, measuring the earth and heavens in two strides, leaving nothing for the third. Brahma worships Trivikrama's foot at Satyaloka, and the water from that ablution becomes the sacred celestial river. The demons, enraged at Vishnu's deception, attack but are repelled, and Bali wisely instructs them to retreat, accepting the Lord's will.
