In this sacred episode from Canto 6 of the Srimad Bhagavatham, we explore the grave consequences of Indra's disrespect toward Brihaspati, the preceptor of the gods, whose departure leaves the heavens vulnerable to demonic forces. As the devas face spiritual and military weakness without their guru's guidance, they seek refuge in Lord Vishnu, who counsels them to approach the young and powerful ascetic Visvarupa for protection. Visvarupa graciously accepts the role of Indra's priest and introduces the mighty Narayana Kavacha, a divine armor of the Lord's holy names that shields the devotee from all evil and harm. This episode beautifully reveals how humility before one's guru and surrender to the Lord are the truest sources of strength and victory.
