In this episode of our Srimad Bhagavatham podcast, we begin exploring the fascinating descriptions of the subterranean worlds as revealed in Canto 5. Śukadeva Gosvāmī describes Atala, the realm ruled by Bala, son of Maya, where the sorcery of illusion and sensual enchantment hold powerful sway over all who enter. We then turn to Vitala, presided over by Lord Śiva in his form as Hāṭakeśvara, from whose sacred rivers flows the mystical golden substance known as hāṭaka. Finally, we explore Sutala, the supremely opulent realm granted to the great devotee King Bali, which even surpasses the heavenly planets in its splendor and where the Lord Himself stands as eternal guardian.
