ఈ భక్తిపూర్వకమైన ఎపిసోడ్లో, మహారాజు పరీక్షిత్తు సప్తదిన మరణశాపమును పొందిన అనంతరం తన విశాల సామ్రాజ్యమును వైరాగ్యముతో త్యజించి, అసాధారణమైన స్థిరచిత్తముతో సర్వమును భగవంతునికి అర్పించిన మహత్తర ఘట్టమును దర్శిస్తాము. మృత్యువు నిశ్చయమైన ఆ క్షణమున దివ్యజ్ఞానముచే ప్రకాశితుడైన పరీక్షిత్తు, పావన గంగానదీ తీరమున ప్రాయోపవేశ వ్రతమును ఆచరించుటకు సంకల్పించుకొనెను. ఈ పవిత్రమైన సందర్భముగా సర్వలోకముల నుండి మహర్షులు, సాధువులు, మహాత్ములు గంగాతీరమునకు తరలివచ్చి, రాజర్షి పరీక్షిత్తు యొక్క అచంచల భక్తిని పూజించుచు, శ్రీమద్భాగవత మహాపురాణ ప్రవచనమునకు దివ్యవేదికను సిద్ధమొనర్చిరి.
