శ్రీమద్భాగవతంలోని ఈ పవిత్రమైన ఘట్టంలో, బాల మహర్షి శృంగి తన తండ్రి శమీక మహర్షిని అవమానించిన పరీక్షిత్ మహారాజుకు ఏడు రోజులలో తక్షక సర్పదంష్ట్రచే మరణిస్తావని తీవ్రమైన శాపమిచ్చిన సంఘటనను వివరిస్తాం. పరీక్షిత్ మహారాజు అజాగ్రత్తగా సమాధిలో నున్న శమీకుని మెడలో మృత సర్పమును వేసినందుకు కోపోద్రిక్తుడైన శృంగి ఈ శాపమిచ్చాడు. శాపవార్త విన్న పరీక్షిత్ మహారాజు విచారపడక, రాజ్యమును త్యజించి గంగాతీరమున శుకమహర్షి నోట భగవత్కథలు వినుటకు సంసిద్ధుడయ్యాడు. మహారాజు చివరి ఏడు రోజులు శ్రీమద్భాగవతం వినటానికి కారణమైన ఈ శాపఘట్టం మోక్షమార్గంలో ఒక దివ్యమైన మలుపుగా భాసిల్లుతోంది.
In this sacred episode of Srimad Bhagavatham, we explore the powerful story of young sage Sringi, who in a fit of righteous anger curses King Parikshit to die from a serpent's bite within seven days. When King Parikshit unknowingly offended the meditating sage Shamika by placing a dead serpent around his neck, the sage's son Sringi could not bear the insult to his father and unleashed a devastating curse. Rather than lamenting his fate, the noble King Parikshit accepted the curse with remarkable equanimity, renounced his kingdom, and sat on the banks of the Ganges to attain liberation. This turning point sets the stage for the glorious narration of Srimad Bhagavatham, as the king's final seven days become a divine opportunity to hear the Lord's glories from Sage Shuka.
