Emergence of the Pracetas & Marriage to Marisha
In this profound episode of Srimad Bhagavatham, the ten Pracetas finally emerge from their ten thousand years of deep meditation within the waters, having received the sacred vision of Lord Vishnu. Upon surfacing, they discover that the earth has been entirely covered by dense forests grown by the trees, blocking the sky and obstructing all creation, which fills the Pracetas with righteous fury and they begin to unleash fire and wind to destroy the overgrowth. The king of trees, Soma, intervenes to pacify the Pracetas and presents to them the celestial woman Marisha, born of the trees, as their collective wife and a means of continuing noble lineage. Through this episode, the Bhagavatham beautifully illustrates how divine wrath, when tempered by wisdom and grace, becomes an instrument of cosmic balance and spiritual purpose.
