This discourse introduces Ambarisha, a great devotee-king who dedicated all his senses entirely to the service of Lord Vishnu. During a Dvadashi vrata, sage Durvasa arrived as a guest and, upon learning Ambarisha had sipped water before feeding him, cursed him in anger and unleashed a fiery demon. The Sudarshana Chakra, given by the Lord to protect Ambarisha, chased Durvasa across all worlds and lokas, and neither Brahma nor Shiva could stop it. Finally, the Lord tells Durvasa that He is fully under the control of His devotees and instructs him to seek forgiveness from Ambarisha himself.
